John Newman, just turned 23, lent his soul vocals to Rudimental’s ‘Feel The Love’ & ‘Not Giving In’ and is currently taking a shot at having the summer hit of ’13, with first single ‘Love Me Again’ being played like crazy in radioland.
This chap managed to get the Stax- and Motown-soul spoonfed to him as a child by his funk- and soul-obsessed mother. He mentions in his bio that he loves Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye but also enjoys Led Zeppelin and Adele. He also writes video scenarios, mixes his own songs and designs his own outfits in between too.
This guy is going to be big name, you can just see it coming, currently still fine-tuning the debut that is to be released on October 7 on Island Records. For the first (and probably also the last) time in the intimate setting of the AB Club!
