In-house artist presents exquisite ‘American Soul Music’.
Can you speak of an in-house artist if you've already welcomed them four times previously? Yes? Fine, then we'll lay it on a little thicker. “Ladies & gentlemen! (drum-roll) We hereby officially welcome, for the fifth time in AB, our in-house performer Joan As Police Woman!”
Joan As Police Woman is still synonymous with Joan Wasser. She impressed for two days last year as opener for the now mourned Lou Reed. We can, as ever, still enjoy her impassioned American Soul Music (as she likes to describe her music). We were allowed a sneak preview of a number of new songs from her album ‘The Classic’, to be released in ’14. We were jumping on the table with enthusiasm: this female cop is not only cool, but also funky as fuck! Hail Joan!
Promising, young duo from Brussels that plays an electronic version of pure, dreamy pop. The fragile voice of singer Birsen Uçar floats around perfectly in the beautiful melodies that multi-instrumentalist PJ Seaux shakes out of his electronic equipment. Hydrogen Sea just recently signed to Unday Records (Trixie Whitley, Flying Horseman,...). A debut is in the making.
