Jessica Pratt – not to be confused with the Australian soprano – looks like she just escaped from folk's heyday in the sixties. In terms of mood and timbre, think: forgotten classics by Linda Perhacs (her album ‘Parallelograms’) that have been much acclaimed by Devendra Banhart, Vashti Bunyan’s ‘Just Another Diamand Day’ and the superb ‘In My Own Time’ by Nick Cave’s favourite Karen Dalton.
Jessica Pratt lives in San Fransisco and is often named in the same breath as contemporaries like Joanna Newsom and Angel Olsen. Her untitled debut was released on Birth Records, the label of White Fence man Tim Presley who proclaimed: “I would dump all my money into putting this out." Much appreciated Tim! For real!
