Synth-pop surrealist presents new album ‘Like A Baby’
In early 2014, a mockumentary about Jerry Paper was released. One opened by the narrator with the question: ‘Who the heck is this guy?’. That’s pretty much the standard reaction to a first encounter with this postmodern synth-pop producer. His lifelong fascination for mystical experiences and spirituality creeps into both his music and the press material that has been released about him. He has revealed himself to be a surrealistic synth-pop weirdo.
Lucas Nathan has been making music under the alias Jerry Paper for almost 10 years now. His latest album ‘Like A Baby’ is out on October 12 via Stones Throw. He was inspired by his return from New York City to hometown Los Angeles. Charlotte Day Wilson lent her voice, but musicians from Weyes Blood and Alex Brettin are also to be heard on the longplayer. He worked with BADBADNOTGOOD’s Matty Tavares behind the dials.
