JAUNE TOUJOURS CD LAUNCH & SPECIAL OFFER: 1 TICKET + 1 CD = €25!
Finally, three years after 'club' (the kaleidoscopic live CD) there's now brand new work available from Jaune Toujours. Because as the name insinuates: Jaune Toujours is forever... as there's a need for this groundbreaking, barricade storming and unique mix of kick-ass roots-rock du monde, mestizo-folk and reggae feel, Balkan sounds and punk attitude...
So you see: all genres mixed together and difficult to define. Just like the the exciting city that this band originates from: Brussels. So their label and agency is called Choux de Bruxelles, also the stable of Mec Yek, Arabanda and exciting others. Cosmopolitan, critical, engaged and driven, that's how Jaune Toujours still sound, and we continue to enthusiastically situate them next to Les Négresses Vertes, Amparanoia, The Clash...
On Thursday 2 April, Jaune Toujours presents its new songs in the ABBox. But by then the new CD will be out. For €25 you can have a ticket and the CD is waiting for you in the AB on the day of the concert. Isn't that kind of our tricolour folk-rock pride?
Now even better, heavier and hotter! That Jaune Toujours offer of 1 ticket + 1 CD for €25 remains valid. But now there's also this extra musical act (from 7:30 pm!): Fatima Spar & The Freedom Fries. Already well-known in this country (the name alone!) and excellent last year at Womex, the annual World Music fair. 'Hailing from at least 5 countries, strong and feminine and a fine cabaret-like folk-rock act': that was the blog-commentary on the AB site at the time. Homebase is Vienna, Fatima herself is Turkish and that's where the term 'zirzop' comes from, meaning 'pretty crazy' and also the title of their debut CD. Meanwhile there is also the CD 'Trust'. Rif Raf had the following to say about the latter: 'The combination of jazz, calypso, Balkan tunes and swing provides classy songs that alternate between frivolous and dripping with melancholy ... even Marlene Dietrich couldn't do it better ...' The CD is distributed here by Bang!. Quite a nice coincidence: Jaune Toujours' agency is called Choux de Bruxelles and Fatima Spar's is called Frit Special!
