In full, this is called Jan and Kim's Comic Strip Concert, alias Jan De Smet and Kim Duchateau, alias bis: Jan from the likes of De Nieuwe Snaar and Kim from the likes of the De Morgen.
Jan De Smet musical omnivore to De Nieuwe Snaar and honorary director of the Ukulogical Museum (Sterrebeek) is also music-, text- and curiosity-provider to the public broadcasting company. Jan is afflicted with more musical baggage than anyone would ever want to climb the Himalaya with.
Kim Duchateau in-house cartoonist to De Morgen, makes hilarious comic strips about Überbabe Ester Verkest for P-Magazine and provides illustrations for various magazines and newspapers. In 2007 he won the Brass Adhemar, the Flemish Community Cultural Prize for Comics.
Looking at songs and singing along with drawings.
Musical omnivore Jan De Smet and cartoonist Kim Duchateau present a fantastic new entertainment formula: the comic strip concert.
This is how it goes: Jan presents all-time children's songs on accordion, banjo, ukulele and guitar. Evergreens ('Kortjakje', Moriaantje', 'Onder moeders paraplu', … ) but also recent work ('Steek Je Vinger In De Lucht', 'Alles Goed', …) with which he has become such a great friend of children over past years. Kim sits, well-behaved, next to Jan and makes a mischievous drawing for each song. A camera hangs above his drawing table. The images are projected on a huge screen behind the two. So that it looks like – woops – a video clip is born while you're boisterously singing along.
Funny, entertaining and surprising. What will that crazy Kim's pen conjure this time? Will he get his drawing finished on time? What are Jan and Kim hatching there? Or what trick are they putting together? It remains exciting until the last breath, as everyone has a chance of taking home an AUTHENTIC Kim. All drawings will be hung out after the show in a mini-expo. Everyone receives a ticket befor the show, which gives them the chance to win a unique item.
Cheerfully chatting along, feasting your eyes, laughing, jumping and maybe even winning. You never get tired of looking at/singing along to a comic strip concert.
