Jamie Lidell, or: the glorious return of our favourite funk soul god with golden voice. It was about time too, as we're such Jamie Lidell fans that we had difficulty surviving the period of relative calm following his latest album 'Compass' (from '10 already).
Lidell's restless soul would no doubt have something to do with that. He left his homeland England for Berlin way back when, and - after a stopover in New York - he recently moved to the best country location: Nashville, USA. He built his own studio there to entirely record his new untitled February release.
Apparently it sounds a little less Stax and Motown, but again with a generous injection of exciting electronica. De Standaard about that: "Our favourite white British soul singer (f*k off Jamiroquai!) is finally back with a high-tech pop song that fuses r&b and whopping glitch-hop." It has been noted.
