Jamie Lidell, or: the glorious return of our favourite funk soul god with golden voice. We repeat it pretty much every time he visits, as Jamie Lidderdale – Lidell’s real name – always takes his time for every musical step. It’s already been 3 years again since that his album ‘Jamie Lidell’ (‘13) saw the light of day. It also sounded slightly less Stax and Motown than we’re used to hearing from him on albums like ‘Multiply’ (05), ‘Jim’ (’08) and ‘Compass’ (’10).
The electronica that we were familiar with from his first band Super_Collider moved to the forefront. The Standaard on that: ‘Onze favoriete Britse blanke soulzanger (f*k off Jamiroquai!) is eindelijk terug met hightech popsongs die r&b en bonkende glitch-hop versmelten.’
So we’re dead curious what his brand new album ‘Building A Beginning’ will sound like.
