A Liveurope concert:
The first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote emerging European music.

Mitchell van Dinther from ‘S-Hertogenbossch mixes experimental jazz and fusion with hip-hop, soul, Brazilian samba and bossa nova, gains inspiration from the compositions of Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal and loves the progrock of Soft Machine and the groundbreaking releases of hip-hop label Stones Throw Records.

Van Dinther is the very first Dutchman to release on FlyLo’s Brainfeeder. On ‘Fool’, he cuts up jazzy beats and progressive electronica. Musical contributions are made by Thundercat on bass, ex-Coltrane pianist Steve Kuhn and legendary Brazilian guitarist Arthur Verocai. Live, Jameszoo presents his rebellious “naive computer-jazz” in jazz quartet or quintet form, with shows at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival, North Sea Jazz and our very own Les Ardentes this summer.

Fans of The Gaslamp Killer, Flying Lotus, Thundercat and (slightly closer to home) LTGL (AB’s Artist in Residence ’15-’16) and STUFF., prick up your ears!

JAM CITY - Live

Under the moniker Jam City, producer Jack Latham experiments with shredded electronica, airy R&B and weird sounds bathed in a dark, industrial-vibe. Mixtape ‘Trouble’, via underground label Night Slugs (belonging to producer Bok Bok – who, just like Jam City, has worked with Kelela) continues in the same vein as Latham’s acclaimed album ‘Dream a Garden’ from 2015. “A modern-day psychedelia… Strange and disorientating, idiosyncratic and frequently astonishing” is what The Guardian wrote about it. Far from ‘music for the masses’, but those looking for added-value won’t be able to get enough of this.
