In '11, after three very promising mixtapes, one J. Cole dropped his debut ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story’ on Jay Z’s Roc Nation label. B.A.M.! A lyrical genius was born. The album, with contributions from Missy Elliot, Drake, Trey Songz, Kanye West and Jay Z, reached the top of the renowned US Billboard 200 and catapulted the charismatic Jermaine Cole in the direction of hip-hop heaven. There was a ‘Best New Artist’-nomination at the 2012 Grammy’s (a grammy that landed on the mantel of Bon Iver) as icing on the cake!

He travelled the world as support-act to Drake and meanwhile tinkered (together with Kendrick Lamar, Miguel, 50 Cent and TLC) further on successor ‘Born Sinner’. While single ‘Power Trip feat. Miguel’ exploded on the 'net, Cole’s second shot climbed to the top of the US Billboard Charts again, and turned out to be one of the most successful hip-hop releases of ’13.
