2 grandmasters of raw French rap sound
Isha and Limsa d’Aulnay are two established names on the French rap scene, each with an impressive solo career. Isha, known for his introspective lyrics and raw authenticity, has built up a loyal following over the years. Limsa d'Aulnay, with his sharp pen and sophisticated wordplay, is also known as an artist who digs deep into his personal and social experiences to tell unique stories.
Although the two artists have long known and respected each other, it was 2020 before they first worked together on the song Starting Block, one of the tracks on Limsa’s Logique Part.2. It became an important moment in their careers: they discovered that they had a lot in common, not only musically but also personally. Their successful collaborations and increasingly tight friendship bore the idea of creating a joint mixtape, which then resulted in new album Bitume Cavia several months later.
Bitume Cavia is a unique collaboration between two influential artists and also a symbiosis of their personal and musical journeys. The album reflects their shared experiences and perspectives on life in the banlieues, the challenges of modern society and the universal search for identity and meaning. Together they create a sound that honours both their individual styles as well as bringing a new, collective energy that is as refreshing as it is familiar.
