Stunning new music by 2 Belgian singer-songwriters
The band Isbells contributes further to the impressive start of their career, with ‘Stoalin' (out March 26). The band encompassing singer-songwriter Gaëtan Vandewoude managed to score well with 2 singles: ‘As Long As It Takes’ and ‘Reunite’. Both landed in the upper regions of the charts and the debut album went gold. After that there were releases in Germany, Australia and Japan plus a tour of Europe. They played brilliant concerts in the AB during the likes of 10 Years of Duyster and at the Feeërieën. Isbells started recording their second album in mid-2011, in Gaëtan's home studio again. Isbells' signature sound is still there, along with a number of fresh new elements. First single ‘Heart Attacks’ will be out at the end of February and the album will be launched in the ABClub on March 29.
We'll be opening the evening with an other singer-songwriter called Renée. She makes porcelain whisper-pop with her heart on her sleeve and, together with her band, she translates this into an intricate web in which an occasional instrumental melody sparkles. Renée found a homebase with musicians Eva Bruneel, Pieter Elias, Stijn Engels and Gunter Deleu. Their album ‘Extending Playground‘ will be released in spring by Zealrecords (see too: Isbells). Wouter Vlaeminck (Tomàn) and Mathijs Bertel (Ansatz Der Maschine) did the recording. Live, the band carries you away in a nostalgic vibe - as if you're sitting on the needle of a gramophone record and can feel every jump or crackle go all the way to your soul.
