Warning: this is an interview, not a concert!
Coming to cheer Huis 23 with his presence on 25 October: Danko Jones, no less. In the run-up to his no doubt steaming set that night in AB. He's namely always happy to take time to answer questions. Access is free-of-charge, as always, but you are obliged to reserve a seat. We'll be starting at 5:30 pm sharp, so you'd best be on time.
Danko Jones? It can't get much more rock-'n-roll! The Canadian and his band ensure outright steam-roller songs, no frills, no fuss. Yet Jones still manages get his sledgehammer blows tighter than your average latex suit, both live and on his albums, entirely in the tradition of bands like AC/DC, Motörhead, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy and UFO.
How does he do it? How does he ensure that the songs that he writes hit the nail on the head? The secrets of a tight live set and a good song, hopefully we find out in Huis 23. It is also so that Danko Jones has been making music since 1996 and is still working with the same DIY work ethic and with the same musicians after 16 years. That is a minor miracle in itself in the current musical landscape.
The ideal person to fish for all Danko Jones' secrets? We found him in the form of Thomas Van Dingenen. As the singer of Bulls On Parade (still Europe's best Rage Against The Machine cover band) and top man of management- and booking-office Devil in a Box sure knows what a good rock band should sound like. He represents fine folk like Wallace Vanborn, Kapitan Korsakov, Raketkanon and Cloon.
You can register via bert@poppunt.be (subject: Danko Jones). Feel free to send us the questions you've always wanted to ask Danko Jones at the same time, who knows, we might actually ask them. Oh, and be quick, as there are only 50 seats.
