AB, together with PXL Music and the DAE gaming school, is building het music club of the future. For the WITT and Pothamus concerts, we are installing an immersive audio and video system in our AB Club for the first time.
With speakers at the front, back, left, right and above the space, we will mimic how we naturally experience sound, namely 360°. We are also exploring how artists can create visuals for a live set using artificial intelligence. Together with WITT and Pothamus, we are creating an exclusive show that fully explores the creative boundaries of immersive audio and video. The result is a rich and intense listening experience.
WITT is a healthy mix of electronic music, rhythm, and vocals that play an extremely important role. This project experiments with the function and effect of choirs and vocals in spatial audio. WITT consists of lead vocalist Tine Theré and a choir of five: Jens Pauwels, Edward Kuijken, Anna Dutoit, Leen Vanheers and Lore Borremans. Their first EP LOCUS was released in stereo on all platforms and in Dolby Atmos on Apple Music. The songs deal with different kinds of relationships, and each experience is reflected in both lyrics and mood and sound.
Pothamus saw the light of day in Mechelen in 2013. Since its formation, the band has been brewing a mix of sludge metal, tribal and post-rock that results in a mesmerizing trip. With their debut album Raya (2020, Consouling Sounds) Pothamus established themselves as one of the most promising and ambitious new names in the heavy genre. Raya is a 50-minute concept album that mixes hypnotic sounds with spiritual themes. Across the broad landscape of Amenra, OM, Swans, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Heilung and Wardruna, the trio still managed to create their own sound, one that sufficiently carries their philosophical quandaries. Think: stormy riffs and primitive percussion with floating drones and bleak basslines. Raya was recorded with producer Chiaran Verheyden, producer for Psychonaut (Unfold the God Man, Violate Consensus Reality) and Hippotraktor (Meridian).
