Wow! What an honour! After all, you don't just get an evening of curating Stoemp! thrown into your lap. Stoemp! is still a series of shows in a ten authentic cafés in central Brussels, organised by Poppunt. Out of respect, AB will, at the same time, present a true double-bill with talented Belgian artists who both happen to live in Ghent.
Tiny Legs Tim
Earlier this year, at Record Store Day, we scored ‘One Man Blues’ (on vinyl of course!) by solo band Tiny Legs Tim from Ghent. Belgian blues-god Roland provided the liner notes and wrote: “Just with his six strings and stomping foot tap board Tiny Legs Tim brings back the ghost and magic of Bukka White and Robert Johnson.” If you're wondering who Bukka White is: just like Son House, he's an old blues-god from whom, in turn, our god Jack White has gained inspiration.
Imaginary Family
Sometimes music really touches your heart and soul. The single ‘The Bird Watcher’ by Imaginary Family appeared from out of nowhere earlier this year and was immediately picked up by Radio 1 and StuBru. Behind this imaginary family you will find singer Joanna Isselé who, with her remarkable voice, gets us into a Marissa Nadler and First Aid Kit vibe. Imaginary Family will release their first official EP later this year and head out on the road as a full band. But first a foretaste, in avant première, with a real solo set by Joanna Isselé. You'll be there too, won't you?
