A dazzling show with five trumpets!
After 17 albums, including Capacity to Love in 2022, and a prestigious nomination at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, French-Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf is back with a stunning musical project: Trumpets of Michel Ange. Together with his band, Maalouf will present his latest project.
T.O.M.A., an acronym for Trumpets of Michel Ange, is an adventure in philosophy, history, and music that takes us to a world where folklore and modernity blend. Alongside nine musicians, including five trumpeters, Maalouf presents music that is refined, demanding, and accessible to as wide an audience as possible. T.O.M.A. transcends genres and draws inspiration from jazz, pop, world music, and urban influences. Through this, Ibrahim Maalouf lays the groundwork for an ambitious life project that aims to bring us together around shared values.
âMaalouf's trumpet laughs, cries, mourns, sings, and tells us beautiful stories. Infinite tenderness and the most exuberant rhythms alternate. Ibrahim Maalouf manages to make a grand show feel intimate.â â François DelĂ©traz, Le Figaro
Maalouf's talent for blending various genres has been praised worldwide for over a decade. As a teenager, Ibrahim won the largest international competitions and began a career as a classical soloist. However, starting in the 2000s, he became a key figure in both the pop and jazz worlds, as well as in world music, largely due to his improvisational talent. Sting, Salif Keita, Amadou & Mariam, Tryo, Matthieu Chédid, Lhasa de Sela, and many other artists from diverse styles seek his collaboration.
