Under the title "Pointing the way to new music" AB and the eleven music clubs of the Club Circuit get together this concert season for an exciting series. Together they've selected 10 weekends when on each occasion another club will occupy the AB, while at the very same time the AB goes on location to that visiting club. With this project AB and the Club Circuit want to place some extra emphasis on their good relations.
The closing weekend of this project is set aside for Petrol. We can now already announce all the following names for the exchange between AB and this music club in Antwerp: ABCLUBCIRCUIT PETROL @ AB: HOLY FUCK + RADIOCLIT + PETROL DJ’S
Holy Fuck's music is – weeell– not easily classified. Their thrilling concert at Pukkelpop 2008 left marks on everyone's limbs. A juicy piece of raw electro-funk that should show us into the 22nd century (now already?). Leading magazine XLR8R spoke of ‘the guys who redefine live electronic music’. With a cross-grained instrumentarium (music from the likes of a 35mm projector) and a solid rhythm-section (until here you could compare them with relatives Battles), they present the equivalent of contemporary electronic music, but then without the typical techniques usually associated with it, like loops and programming. The successor for their second album ‘LP’ is unfortunately only to be expected in May, but at the end of April Petrol and AB will serve you a foretaste as part of ABClubcircuit. Don't miss this party.
Radioclit originated in the Vice Magazine world and insiders know what that means. As true children of the noughties, the British DJ/producer duo hammers rock-guitars onto licked electro-beats, bad-mouthed raps onto banging rock-rhythms and African vocals onto gritty dubstep. It gets called "ghetto-pop" and "bongo dance", and clubbers are loving it. Other performers know it too, they're having to queue to remix. Previously also worked with BLK JKS who you'll also find on the bill for Domino 09.
Support act will be Brits It Hugs Back, frisky psychedelic pop or rather Yo La Tengo going mad at your student party. With a new album out in early April on the 4AD label.
HOLY FUCK
IT HUGS BACK 'Now + Again'
