Helmet's heavily grooving, often dissonant and in drop-D dipped alternative metal made furore in full grunge glory-days as “thinking man's metal” and in the early '90s it paved the way for bands like Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, Pantera and Slipknot. After four albums and a handful of member-changes, Helmet packed it in... and, after ramblings as lead guitarist for David Bowie and studio work with Therapy? and Wire, frontman/songsmith Page Hamilton fished out his favourite headgear again in 2004.
