Funky (deep)house with a big wink to disco & soul
While Flume, Chet Faker and Flight Facilities reign supreme in the land of Australian electronica, crown prince Hayden James is eagerly trying to whisk away the sceptre, just like the three kings (and Cashmere Cat) on the indie label Future Classic. He first came to our attention with the single ‘Permission To Love’, which set the hype-meters buzzing in 2013, followed by a well-received eponymous debut EP.
But when he dropped the single ‘Something About You’ at the end of 2014, funky (deep)house with a big wink to disco and soul, the sparks really started to fly worldwide. He grabbed a highly sought after spot at the Californian Coachella festival ’15, and kicked off various dance parties as the support act of Disclosure, Empire Of The Sun and Odesza. He could see Virgin/EMI (Universal Music Group), which represents among others Kanye West, Massive Attack and deadmau5, waving a big fat contract at him.
There’s something about that Hayden James… What? You’ll have to find out at AB Club!
