Sturdy power-rock with solid (metal) balls!
American power-rock quartet Halestorm – from Red Lion, Pennsylvania – saw the light of day in ’97, when brother (Arejay, drums) and sister (Elizabeth aka Lzzy, vocals & guitar) Hale (then 10 and 13 years old respectively) started jamming with father and bassist Roger Hale. Eighteen years, three full albums on Atlantic Records (Warner Music), tours with the likes of Alter Bridge (in AB on 25/10/13), Papa Roach, Bullet For My Valentine and a Grammy Award for ‘Love Bites (So Do I)’ (from second longplayer ‘The Strange Case Of…’) later and Halestorm is racing through the land of spicy rock like a powerful tornado!
Their latest issue ‘Into The Wild Life’ has been blasting our socks off since April ’15 and is again bursting with sturdy power-rock flanked by the golden gullet of leading lady Lzzy Hale. She makes it very abundantly clear what it’s all about, with lyrics like “I’m doing this thing called whatever the fuck I want”, “I get off on you getting off on me” and “Break-up sex… Baby, love me apocalyptic”. A woman with solid (metal) balls, we’re always glad to see that coming!
