AB still follows the BBC's annual ‘BBC Sound of...’ ranking with vigilance. Let's just say: the most influential chart as barometer of performers on the edge of a (global) breakthrough. Last year that was Michael Kiwanuka and this year the 'winner' was California's Haim. More than enough reasons for AB to have them come to Brussels.
Haim – the three sisters Danielle, Este and Alana Haim – currently scoring well on the radio with their infectious single ‘Don’t Save Me’ . On pretty much every radio station too. Musically, they're mostly compared to Fleetwood Mac, with a serious dose of contemporary R&B. The Guardian certainly praised their first visit to English soil with a rave ***** review. A BBC journalist described them as “Brilliant musicians with a great talent for melodies. Coming from classical songs structures, they shoot straight into the 21st century.”
In case you're not convinced yet: the winners of the BBC Sound of.. ranking were also to be aside Michael Kiwanuka and Adele, Keane, 50 Cent and Ellie Goulding. In other words, not exactly bad company for Haim to hang out with.
