Indie-rock band that spiced up Rock Werchter 2011
American indie-rock band Grouplove saw the light of day in 2009 and consists of Hannah Hooper, Christian Zucconi, Sean Gadd, Andrew Wessen and Ryan Rabin (this son of former Yes-guitarist Trevor Rabin also produced the debut). Hooper and Zussoni met in New York and the musical sparks flew from the start. Both retreated to an artistic colony in Greece where they encountered the remaining band members. Grouplove was born.
Following a first EP, they were able to tour extensively with Florence + The Machine and The Joy Formidable, after which the band also made an impression here on stage at Rock Werchter. Their debut ‘Never Trust A Happy Song’ was also released in Belgium in September 2011.
About their visit to Rock Werchter 2011: ‘We were cheered by the sun-drenched pop melodies’ (De Morgen ***) ‘One of the discoveries. California Dreamin’ but with Arcade Fire accents’ (Het Nieuwsblad 8/Top 10)
Support-act will be America's Bosco Delrey, the one one out on Diplo’s Mad Decent label. Bold garage-gospel with a layer of rickety electronica.
