Hey Lord... back with The Rumour!
It was April 1998 since this enthusiastic British singer-songwriter was solo in the AB The recordings of that show were apparently so good that they're still offered on his site.
As of the mid-seventies, Graham Parker was responsible for gems like Hey Lord Don't Ask Me Questions, Back To Schooldays, Heat Treatment, Protection, You Can't Be Too Strong, I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down...
Now 25 CDs + live recordings + compilations + books + films further, up to and including a new CD with his phenomenal original band The Rumour: Three Chords Good.
He rose to fame in the glory days of pub & punkrock. In the meantime he has clearly evolved into a smart and appealing star-exponent.
He suddenly turned up again in September 2013 at a sold-out Minard in Ghent, and De Morgen wrote: 'a long emotional ride... it never became a purely nostalgic trip, also because Parker revealed himself between songs as a sardonic commentator of the past and a merciless critic of his own work.
"This song is about nothing, but you can get away with a lot thanks to a melody", we said of 'Black Honey'.
Parker appeared keen on sending the audience home with a renewed lust for life. He waved away suggested encores from the hall as "too depressing".'
As they say overseas: hey Lord, spread the Rumour!
Reena Riot may now provide the support act in duo form. The artistic alias of Naomi Sijmons also has a 2nd EP CD out and we can't imagine a better 'support' for Graham Parker & his Rumour. Reena Riot guarantees intense roots-rock with the approval of the likes of grandmasters Roland and MauroO°!
