Goldfrapp – based upon duo Alison Goldfrapp and producer/musician Will Gregory – already debuted about ten years ago with ‘Felt Mountain’, a relatively acoustic down-tempo album with a minimal, classical touch. Though it later became apparent that this was only a part of their identity. Goldfrapp turned out to be good at many things. From electronica to dance-pop with touches of glam-rock and disco (as could be heard on their albums ‘Black Cherry’ and ‘Supernature’) and on to the folky approach on their album before last ‘Seventh Three’. “And…” - we briefly quote Humo – “their path takes yet another U-turn: their new album 'Head First' is bursting with jumpy ‘eighties-synth-pop’.” ‘Head First’ is indeed an album with a juicy 80's injection. Entertainment Weekly even wrote: "Head First sounds as if they've been commissioned to paint the inside of Olivia Newton-John's mind, circa 1980”. But weren't the eighties totally back again? Indeed they are! This third visit will certainly be Goldfrapp's most festive here in AB.
