The long-awaited (more acoustic) return of Goldfrapp.
Goldfrapp is still concentrated around the duo Alison Goldfrapp and producer/musician Will Gregory. Their debut ‘Felt Mountain’ – now from 2000 already – was a relatively acoustic downtempo album with a slightly classical touch. Though it became apparent that this was only one part of their identity. Goldfrapp turned out to be a jack of all trades. Their albums ‘Black Cherry’, ‘Supernature’ and ‘Head First’ were full of electronica to dance-pop with pinches of glamrock and disco.
This fall will see the release of their 6th album, ‘Tales Of Us’, on which Goldfrapp surprises once more by again leaning toward their more acoustic debut ‘Felt Mountain’ and the more folky tinted ‘Seventh Tree’. The spirit of David Lynch is never far removed, they say. Alison Goldfrapp on this change of direction: “I'm drawn more and more to the intimacy and simplicity of the voice & guitar.” Welcome back Goldfrapp!
