5th AB passage and with a brand new album under his belt
Formed in 2012 in Manchester, GoGo Penguin has enjoyed such great success both on record and live like few other instrumental bands. Their music is described as acoustic electronica, which they aptly combine with rock, jazz, minimalist and experimental electronic sounds to create their own inimitable style, which they continue to evolve. Over the course of their career, the trio has built an exciting repertoire, including v2.0, nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2014, and Man Made Object, released on renowned jazz label Blue Note.
In 2025, GoGo Penguin returns with an eighth studio album, Necessary Fictions, on which they dig deep within themselves to achieve “what we currently consider our integral and authentic qualities.” The result is their most daring album to date, with more modular synthesizers, Moog Grandmothers and electric bass in their sound than ever before. Honest and powerful, Necessary Fictions shows GoGo Penguin at the height of their powers.
This is now their 5th AB passage: Welcome back gentlemen!
DAUDI MATSIKO
British-Ugandan singer-songwriter Daudi Matsiko garnered nothing but praise with The King Of Misery - an album centering on his depression and bipolar disorder. Mojo lauded him with **** and Gilles Peterson (BBC 6 Music) immediately lashed out at him: “Rarely do you find and hear people like him, there are no other Daudi's that I know.”
