The ‘piano & percussion’ project of Puerto Rican-Belgian Gabriel Rios, jazz-genius Jef Neve and percussion-wonder Kobe Proesmans came to stand so many years ago in the AB for the presentation of the Zamu Awards. What began as a ‘musical side-project brimming with desire to play’ developed into a fully-fledged project that has more than successfully toured Flanders. Successful? Not only was musical pleasure the dominant factor, but the venues were always full too (including the final show in AB in October 2008).
But they just couldn't resist the nature of the beast. This fine collaboration has now also resulted in an album. A début really, which will be released in 2010. Of course that should be accompanied by a fine première. The focus is still upon the songs by Rios & Neve, which are completely stripped and played in their naked essence. Up close and personal! Now that's good news.
