Songwriter in the tradition of Sufjan and Rufus
New York composer/singer-songwriter Gabriel Kahane is a multi-talented musician who writes compositions for orchestra, music and theatre.
With his eclectic mix of traditional folk songs and his classical background, it is logical that his work is regularly compared to that of Sufjan Stevens or Rufus Wainwright.
In the aftermath of the 2016 elections in America, he made a train trip through his country to collect tales for his 2018 album 'Book of Travelers' on the Nonesuch label (see: Conor Oberst, Fleet Foxes, David Byrne …). The album was received with rave reviews.
Uncut wrote: ‘Musically fascinating and hauntingly empathetic’ and Rolling Stone labelled the album ‘a stunning portrait of a singular moment in America.’
