Ghanese funk on the one. Sampled by J. Dilla. ‘Make It Fast, Make It Slow’ ROB!
Ghanaian ‘Funky’ ROB – aka Robert Roy Raindorf – released two forgotten über classics in the ‘70s: ‘Funky Rob Way’ (1977) and ‘Make It Fast, Make It Slow’ (1978) on the influential Essiebons label (see too: Ebo Taylor, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley…). The track of the same name ‘Make It Fast, Make It Slow’ was later actually sampled by J Dilla. ROB is the equivalent of Ghanaian funk on the one with a great fondness for artists like James Brown and Otis Redding.
Live, ‘Funky’ ROB is joined by seven-member Norwegian heavy afro-psychedelic band Flammer Dance Band. Think: vintage synths, space-out-effects, hip grooves and bouncing breaks!
1 + 1 equals in this case an explosive 3!
Make it funky, ROB!
