Fulco Ottervanger (BeraadGeslagen - De Beren Gieren) embraces pop in Dutch
It’s here. The pop album in Dutch that FULCO has known must come for ten years now. The Dutch guy from Ghent, who grew up in Brussels, had been collecting notes and words for all that time. He plays with BeraadGeslagen, STADT and De Beren Gieren, but all the while he has been writing and singing all sorts of versions of his own songs. He headed out into the world, searched and searched some more, and knew where he wanted to be when he finally got there.
Think: splashy synths and delicious drums. Many melodies and, yes, even post-punk. With examples like Connan Mockasin, Alabama Shakes, Sly & The Family Stone, and Mac DeMarco. The result: an album that takes many paths.
