Extremely driven and current roots
Bert Dockx – linchpin of (the instrumental) Dans Dans, (the dutch-language) Strand, as well as Flying Horseman – just happened to receive the culture prize of the KU Leuven in 2015. The prize is awarded every two years to ‘an outstanding and innovative living Belgian artist (m/f) who has also made a commendable effort in the areas of education and/or research in the arts’.
With good reason, as pretty much every concert of his that we've seen has been impressive, to say the least. More than enough reason to provide Dockx and his companions with a platform for every release. This time it is the turn of Flying Horseman, with a completed successor (‘Night Is Long’) to the highly acclaimed ‘City Same City’ that dealt in moody blues, primitive African rhythms, claustrophobic rock and mind-expanding soundscapes.
