The band-name FLEET FOXES is on everyone's lips at the moment. Following a fiercely appreciative review on the highly respected Pitchfork Media website and a brilliant concert at the SXSW showcase festival in Austin, Texas on March 11, the army of Fleet Foxes fans is growing steadily. Now Belgium too is completely captivated by this 5 member band from Seattle that doesn't hide its predilection for harmonious polyphonic vocals.
After the 'Sun Giant' EP, now their untitled debut now makes apparent that the 5 gentlemen (complete with beard and checked-shirt) appear to have grown up on The Beach Boys, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Fairport Convention and Joni Mitchell: one and all fine songs with heavenly harmonies. In the editorial office of the HUMO that elicited a 'better than My Morning Jacket and Band Of Horses', and Studio Brussels surprisingly catapaulted the single 'White Winter Hymnal' to Hotshot.
J. TILLMAN - the talented folksy singer-songwriter, also from Seattle and drummer to Fleet Foxes - also even finds the time to provide the support-act during their European tour. In 2006 Tillman released the brilliant 'Minor Works' on the succulent Fargo label. 'Cancer & Delirium' is the title of his most recent album, released this year.
