Sonho Real: Brazilian dream- reggae!
Flavia Coelho is a high-spirited stage-phenomenon. We’ve been sure of that here since a more recent Couleur Café.
At home in Rio and Paris, where she now has access to manager, keyboard-player, producer and studio boss Victor-Attila Vagh-Weinmann for her third, brilliant CD Sonho Real ('real dream’ out here through Pias.)
Flavia plays guitar (sometimes even a see-through one), but on Sonho Real it is mainly as striking singer that we hear her even more merrily go wild to a backdrop of dub-reggae, flashes of forro, ragga, ska etc.
But there is also an unavoidable dose of saudade in the lyrics and titles like Pura Vida, single Paraiso, Na Favela, Mulher, Sem Você, up to and including (a scoop!) Temontou – to be pronounced or sung French-style, something Flavia seems to do for the first time here too.
Boom Boom!
