DJVT producer Bas Bron blows new life into cult- project
Electro-project of Northern neighbour Bas Bron – ready-made beat supplier to the loud-mouthed hippedy-hoppers of De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig – that turned up a good twelve years ago with EP ‘A Girl Between Two Worlds’. Cutting-edge Amsterdam label Dekmantel last year blew the dust off that 12”-EP from ‘04 and re-released the vinyl, while Hudson Mohawke established the song ‘Resistance’ from latest album ‘Lantern’ around a sample from Fatima Yamaha’s cult hit ‘What’s A Girl To Do’. All that newfangled attention meant that infamous online music mag Resident Advisor closed the electronic musical year 2015 with that same cult hit as RA Staff’s Track Of The Year.
All that hype inspired Bron to pull out his funky synths again and that resulted in first longplayer ‘Imaginary Lines’ (Nov ’15) on his very own label Magnetron Music. The whole summer long, Bron will be combing the national and international festivals (including Melt!, Pitch, Dour & Pukkelpop) as Fatima Yamaha, in search of willing dancing feet. That he’ll find them in Brussels this this fall is a certitude!
