Fun, fanfare, folk à la Mumford & Ed Sharpe
Fanfarlo apparently has London as base of operations. But the central core contains Balthazar (Simon Balthazar from Sweden) with, by the looks of it, Cathy Lucas at his side.
A first visit here must have been in January 2010, during the party for 10 Years of Duyster!? They quickly popped over to win over Pukkelpop that year too and De Standaard wrote then of 'hard-hitting groove... extatic vibe... vivacious pop...'
What is it exactly? British Folk? Indie Rock? Good vibes, in any event, in the wake of other Mumford & Sons and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. So also with room for an occasional trumpet, violin, mandolin, singing saw, clarinet, sax...
Now with a third CD ready - following 'Reservoir' (2009), 'Rooms Filled With Light' (2012) and the recent EP 'The Sea' - and a first foretaste would be single/video 'Myth Of Myself'.
Fanfarlo releases initially take place on their own New World Records, a new world where 'space opera meets spaghetti western'!
Also fun: the new one is called 'Let's Go Extinct'!
