Biggest Melanie fans so far: Gilles Peterson, Eels and Philip Selway (Radiohead)
There are a limited number of combi-tickets available for the concerts taking place as a part of The New Wave Of Belgian Jazz! from WEDNESDAY 13 to TUESDAY 19 DECEMBER.
AB is proud to present THE NEW WAVE OF BELGIAN JAZZ!: a fantastic seven-dayer to conclude the successful JAZZ 100 series. We focus on the latest generation of musicians from The Contemporary National Jazz Scene, for whom jazz is more of a mentality than a genre.

Melanie De Biasio instantly nestled herself into the category âbest the jazz world has to offer worldwideâ with her album âNo Dealâ (from â13 already). And we werenât alone: BBC guru Gilles Peterson became a fan but Eels did too, promptly takin Melanie along on tour and even devoting their very first remix to her. Meanwhile, everyone is anxiously awaiting the successor, even though âBlackened Citiesâ unexpectedly appeared last year: a raw image of her beloved hometown Charleroi that lasts no less than 24 minutes. The song, that is. Melanie simply followed her musical gut-feeling and we love to treasure someone like that.
Her brand new album âLiliesâ will be released right after the summer. Melanie: âAfter my experiences with âNo Dealâ and âBlackened Cities', I could have gone to a big studio, made a big production â but I wanted none of that. I wanted to go back to the seed of creativity, the simplest materials. I was in this room where there was no light, no night or day at all, no heat. Very uncomfortable. But I felt free. For me, âLiliesâ has a darkness, but itâs also luminous.â
