British/Spanish electro-acoustic band, mestizo and dubstep party in equal parts.
British/Spanish Crystal Fighters round off a nice year with a concert in the AB Box on Wednesday 7 December. Formed in Navarro, the band swapped Spain for the London Indie dance scene, where it experiments wholesale with Basque instruments, synthesizers and voices. After a few warmly welcomed showcases at the Eurosonic festival in Groningen in January 2011 they have slowly but surely taken over the radio waves with their single ‘Swallow’; equal parts mestizo and dubstep. The AB Club gig in May sold out in next to no time. Since then the singles ‘At Home’ and more recently ‘Plage’ and ‘Champion Sound’ (a great remix by ‘our’ Addicted Kru Sound) have been released from their debut album ‘Star Of Love’. They also brightened the mood at the Leffingeleuren festival (‘rich dubstep and funky beats’ – De Morgen … ‘in their best moments reminiscent of Manu Chao’ – Focus Knack), so it must be high time they made their appearance in the AB Brussels.
Vadoinmessico is a collection of musicians from Mexico, Italy, Austria and the United Kingdom who are currently hiding out in London. They've been compared musically with Animal Collective and Arcade Fire. Their single ‘Pepita, Queen of The Animals’ mixes African rhythms with stunning melodies. A fine forerunner for what is to come. In the meantime, brand new song ‘Teeo’ has been released (with a Crystal Fighters remix).
