3-days combi tickets via this link.
Brussels is truly honoured to have been chosen by the European Blues Union to host the 5th European Blues Challenge. This jubilee competition – organized by the Brussels Blues Society in cooperation with the Brussels Capital Region – will take place on March 13 and 14, 2015 at the Ancienne Belgique theatre.
On the opening night, March 12, Brussels will also showcase some of Belgium’s finest Blues and Roots music artists. The opening concert at the Ancienne Belgique will feature the four Belgian representatives who performed at the previous editions of the EBC. We welcome Hideaway, Howlin’ Bill (winner of the 1st EBC in Berlin) and Fred and the Healers, the latter act also celebrating their 20th anniversary on the night.
Fred and the Healers recently unleashed their 5th album “HammerBeatMatic.” The collection of 13 original songs of powerful seventies–inspired Blues-Rock featuring Killer riffs, hypnotic rhythms and memorable melodies was unanimously embraced by fans and critics alike. Live on stage the trio sound like a runaway train. Imagine Robert Johnson going electric, with a Telecaster tuned in open D, played through a Tube Screamer, backed by a rhythm section sounding like a cross between Hendrix’ Band of Gypsies and the Black Keys…oh yeah…and with some Freddie King-style guitar solos thrown in…Having already celebrated their 10th anniversary at the Ancienne Belgique back in 2004, Fred and his Healers will stage their 20th anniversary show in the same theatre – promising a surprise-filled performance on the night!
