Improv evening with solo sax and guitar and sax duo
Oslo-based Danish saxophonist and composer Signe Emmeluth is one of the key figures in the contemporary Scandinavian improv scene. You may know her from Emmeluth Amoebe collective, Paal Nilssen-Love's Large Unit or many collaborations with the likes of Hanne De Backer, Terrie Ex, Mats Gustafsson, John Edwards en Mette Rasmussen. She just recently released her 2nd solo album on the sublime Norwegian Smalltown Supersound label. Honest Jon's about it on their site: 'Alto and tenor saxophone solos - with recorder and electronics - in the tradition of Joe McPhee's Tenor and Peter Brötzmann's 14 Love Songs; with the same rapturous intimacy, sparseness, rawness, and poetry. Ace!
Opener of the evening will be the French-Greek, but both based in Brussels, duo Audrey Lauro & Giotis Damianidis. This sax and guitar improv duo released their Dark Ballads album in 2021, which they will present live here.
