We need to inform you that Murph had to leave the tour to attend to personal matters. Kyle Spence will be drumming instead. Kyle most recently played with Dinosaur in Canada. He also plays in The Fog and Harvey Milk.
American guitar-band Dinosaur Jr. released quite simply their best album in ages: ‘Farm’. The press were mad about it, they struck a new young fan-base, and the chemistry of the original line-up with J. Mascis, Lou Barlow (recently in fine form solo during 10 Years of Duyster) and drummer Murph once again soars new heights. Their concert at Pukkelpop 2009 got a bit lost in the gusty wind but on Monday 24 May they can make up for that in your very own AB.
Built To Spill pampered their Belgian fans in the AB in October 2008. In the meantime their new, seventh, and also masterful ‘There Is No Enemy’ has been released on the All Tomorrow’s Parties label. An album that fits perfectly in their row of excellent albums such as 'Perfect From Now On' and 'Keep It Like A Secret'.
Together with Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr. is without a doubt the most influential band of the underground/independent guitar-rock scene. Their first three albums were re-released in 2005: 'Dinosaur', 'You're Living All Over Me' and 'Bug', on which you can make out the catchiest pop, under an enormous layer of fuzz and noise. Following their musical heyday at the end of the 80's, the guys didn't get along any longer and they each went their own way. Their respective solo careers were marked by ups and downs. So it was that bassist Lou Barlow went through life as a chameleon: Sebadoh, Sentridoh, The Folk Implosion and later The New Folk Implosion.
American indie-band Built To Spill have been releasing albums since 1992 but they rarely come to Europe. The band combines tight yet melodic guitar-pop with strong and often politically coloured lyrics. Quite simply one of the best kept American underground grunge/indie secrets. The band is considered by many to be a cornerstone of the American indie scene, with glowing references to - there you have them again - Dinosaur Jr., Pavement, Modest Mouse, Death Cab For Cutie and Neil Young & Crazy Horse.
