American singer-songwriter with predilection for the ‘70s
Admittance is free of charge according to the principle of ‘first come, first served.’
After being discovered in 2006 by Prince, while playing piano in a hotel lobby, things went fast for American singer-songwriter Diane Birch. She became a permanent part of the Brooklyn music scene, was support-act for Stevie Wonder, played with The Roots in Fallon and has meanwhile released 2 albums.
Aside from the clear influence of the great songwriters of the’70s (the likes of Carly Simon and Joni Mitchell), her entire oeuvre is also drenched in the religious upbringing she had as a child. Birches’ father was priest in a Christian denomination which entailed her growing up in Africa and Australia as a child.
The mix of the songs (drenched in gospel, blues & ’70s-pop) in combination with her wonderful voice leave none unmoved, making clear that Birch is an exceptional artist. She will play a solo-set in Huis23.
