Because both AB and Le Botanique firmly believe in this band’s potential, Dez Mona will be taking on the capital twice in one week for the CD-release of their latest album 'Hilfe Kommt'. That will be happening on Tuesday 20 October in the AB and Friday 23 October in Le Botanique.
Dez Mona first performed in the AB in ’04, as part of the Carte Blanche weekend while Mauro Pawlowski was waving the programming-sceptre. In the meantime, the band has already appeared on the AB stage a number of times (including as opener for Zita Swoon). This fall their third - and right away their ripest - album will be released: ‘Hilfe Kommt’. All that, produced by Paul Webb or rather Rustin Man. He once played bass with Talk Talk and under the moniker Rustin Man he’s worked together with James Yorkston and Beth 'Portishead' Gibbons. A breakthrough album? Who knows. The single ‘Carry On’ certainly sounds remarkably accessible by Dez Mona standards (the name, by the way, is derived from the character Desdemona - Othello’s unhappy wife in the play by Shakespeare). Their spiritual pop with strong jazz and gospel influences has certainly never sounded so convincingly multi-faceted.
