Cutting-Edge Indie Guitar-Rock
Deerhunter
“Bradford Cox is God.”
(Humo on Deerhunter's frontman)
Guitar-minded foursome from Atlanta, Georgia. Describe themselves as ‘ambient punk’ but love to smuggle art rock, indie rock, noise rock, post-punk and shoegaze into their band's sound. The Flaming Lips and Matt ‘The Simpsons’ Groening are die-hard fans, as they extended invitations when they had the honour of curating All Tomorrow’s Parties. Even more fans: Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, Battles, Liars and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who all took them along on tour to serve as the perfect opener.
Deerhunter has already released a handful of albums, of which the latest one, from ’10 – ‘Halcyon Digest’, could count on the most support. Pitchfork awarded the album an exceptional 9.2 and wrote: “the band's most exhilarating work to date.” It also happens to be Deerhunter’s most accessible work. The contribution of Ben Allen, who also produced Animal Collective’s breakthrough album ‘Merriweather Post Pavillion’ , definitely had something to do with that.
Deerhunter will soon be curating All Tomorrow’s Parties in the UK themselves and will play three albums in their entirety: ‘Cryptograms’, ‘Microcastle’ and ‘Halcyon Digest’. In AB they present their latest release.
His Clancyness
We'll be opening with Deerhunter's choice of Italian-Canadian Jonathan Clancy, who operates under the name His Clancyness. His Clancyness guarantees you dreamy pop of the purest kind. His debut came into being with the assistance of good folk like Chris Koltay (see: Atlas Sound, Akron/Family,...).
