A Canadian rock-ân-roll jihad: aggressive, soulful and hot!
âPopliedjes, in elkaar geramd door een vuige, overstuurde bas, donderdrums, schreeuwzang en een aftands keyboard. Smerige, stekelige riffs over slimme, rudimentaire grooves. âDynamite with a laser beamâ, om de fijnbesnorde filosoof Freddie Mercury eens te citeren.â (Humo, The Physical World ***1/2)
In 2006, flammable Canadian duo Sebastien Grangier & Jesse F. Keeler suddenly blew up the fantastic Death From Above 1979, with which they had one legendary longplayer âYouâre a Woman, Iâm a Machineâ to their name. After that they killed time with not so bad projects like MSTRKRFT and Bad Tits but the raw magical firework of DFA 1979 was no longer being served up. Until, in 2011, they then cranked up rumours of a reunion concert at Texas showcase festival SXSW and the large horde of loyal fans, ecstatic and almost delirious, were so wild that police had to put a stop to the concert. Their reputation was instantly re-confirmed!
