The perfect pre-eminently classy Belgian pop band is – if you ask us nicely – as ever Das Pop. In ‘09 their untitled, Soulwax produced album ‘Das Pop’ was released with wonderful singles like ‘Underground’, ‘Wings’ and ‘Never Get Enough’ (which was even to be heard in the successful American teen-series ‘Gossip Girl’). In the meantime the band has recorded their fourth album in America's Hoboken (New Jersey). Bent Van Looy about that: "We opted for an entirely different band sound. We especially tried not to be cool. Which influences you can hear? Quite a lot of Joe Jackson and ABBA actually. ABBA's brilliant melancholy is very present in any case: you can hear tragedy but the songs remain danceable." The album was then mixed on – are you ready for it? – the Bahamas, in the studio of Terry Manning (who worked for the fabulous Stax label in the 60's). Oh yeah: it's already ’03 ago since they appeared alone in the AB (in a sold-out ABBOX); in the meantime Bent Van Looy also bears the label Slimste Mens and he is proud owner of a … moustache! In short: more than welcome back gents!
Support act will be locally grown but internationally sounding indie-pop band SX, from Kortrijk. Their track 'Black Video' is certainly worth some honours. De Standaard wrote of it: "Wanna bet that you're sure to hear more from these exciting Belgians this year!" And also Cutting Edge:"This is Belgian and sounds damned good. SX is wonderful, incredible and working on a debut album."
