In 2009, experimental post-hardcore fusion band Dance Gavin Dance released the album ‘Happiness’ and that was a good reason to share a tour bus with A Skylit Drive that year and, what's more, to play a solid concert in the ABClub. On the aforementioned album the band put more musical emphasis on experimenting and less on screamo vocals. Early 2011 will see the release of new album ‘Downtown Battle Mountain Part II’, which is intended as successor to their 2007 debut ‘Downtown Battle Mountain’. The titles specifically refer to one another because the line-up is now the same as in 2007, after a number of thorough substitutions. We'll only know if the music is still similar when the album is released in April.
Break of Day have been working their way up through the Belgian punk-rock scene since 2005 already. The band consists of Teun (vocals), Bart (guitar), Tim (guitar), Thomas (bass) and Raf (drums), five energetic musicians with a shared passion: playing melodic punk-hardcore. Break of Day is known for their tight and energetic live performance. So it was that they had the opportunity to show what they're made of on the stages of both the AB Club and the Trix Club. Furthermore, the band has already provided support acts to renowned foreign bands like Hot Water Music, Strike Anywhere, Verse, Cro-Mags, etcetera. Their second full album will be released in May, making it apparent that Break of Day is no short-lived act. It all began in 2006 with a demo EP ‘Where Ends Meet Life Begins’, which was soon sold out. That was how they ended up on Belgium's biggest punk and hardcore label, namely Funtime Records. Debut album ‘The Hangman’s Fracture’ followed in 2008 and was very much appreciated by an international audience. Hundreds of CDs were rapidly sold in Belgium, but also in countries like Canada and Japan. So Break of Day is very proud to be able to release their new album ‘Illusions Burn’ upon the world in May 2011.
