The band's return
22 years in the business. Tens of thousands of kilometres on their Tour Bus, which has taken them to the four corners of the world. Starting out as a teenage dream in the early 2000s, the collective went on to play a series of gigs under their hats, as well as the most underground cafe concerts. The chemistry quickly took hold, and DANAKIL found themselves playing the biggest venues in France, Zéniths and major European festivals, bringing their rootsy, committed music to as many people as possible. Often reduced to the status of a "reggae band", DANAKIL have managed to break free of the codes to deliver songs that have become "classics", crossing generations and accumulating millions of streams on today's platforms. They've never lost their simplicity, though, and naturally build a close bond with their fans and audiences at every concert, just as they did when they first started out. This special atmosphere has been a major factor in the band's success, and has enabled them to make their own distinctive mark, stamped with the seal of independence and militancy. DANAKIL have always sought to preserve their freedom, first by self-producing their albums, then by setting up their own label.
BACO RECORDS came into being in 2011, and now, under the name BACO MUSIC, welcomes and supports many other musical talents in all aspects of their careers: recording, album production, touring, distribution, digital, promotion, etc. 2024 marks the band's return, with an eagerly-awaited 7th album that will bring together the band's entire fanbase as well as a wider audience, so much so that the subjects addressed throughout this new album are in line with the burning issues of recent months. Musically, the band continue to evolve, pushing even further the production work in their own studio (the BACO STUDIO in Bordeaux) to create their best rhythms and melodies, constantly experimenting in search of a powerful, analogue sound. The result is a natural groove that perfectly supports the cutting-edge lyrics of Balik, the historic singer of the DANAKIL collective.
