Third AB visit for Seattle’s Godfather of Neo Folk.
“Een artiest die al jaren wint aan zeggingskracht.”
(RifRaf)
“Jurado is slowly turning into one of our most treasured songwriters.”
(BBC)
“Damien Jurado is één van de weinige artiesten die ons nog nooit heeft teleurgesteld."
(Focus Knack)
Seattle-resident singer-songwriter Damien Jurado has already been around for a while. It's not without reason that he was once described as Seattle’s Godfather of Neo Folk. He did already debut in the 20th century – in ‘97 to be precise – and he has just issued his 11th(!) album ‘Brothers and Sister Of The Eternal Son’. ‘Brothers...’ is also the final piece of the trilogy that commenced with ‘St. Bartlett’ (’10) and which made a stopover with last year's release of ‘Maraqopa'. Aside from the golden voice of Damien Jurado, Richard Swift was also a binding element in this triptych. Swift – Jurado’s buddy, producer, The Shins-member, multi-instrumentalist (and not to be confused with the immensely popular household item named Swiffer) – has always taken care of the perfect finishing production.
If you're a fan of My Morning Jacket, Neil Young and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, then you can only have one destination on Tuesday 3 June: Anspachlaan 110, 1000 Brussels. Damien Jurado will receive you with open arms.
