3 unique A/V shows to celebrate Brussels Culte-collective
Culte is a Brussels-based booking and management agency. They believe in playing an active and visible role to promote the flourishing Belgian scene worldwide.
Mika Oki and SKY H1 combine forces to present a new audiovisual show to celebrate the release of the debut album ‘Azure’ of SKY H1. In their respective forms, each artist circles the intricate emotive surfaces of contemporary life in all of its mediated intensity.
On the occasion of SKY H1’s debut album they’ve collaborated on a work that takes the content of the album and deciphers its poetics into an alluring live performance. Mika Oki’s visual installation, Parhélion, inspired by the optical phenomenon also called « soleil double » will be taken onto stage and become a subtle scenography of light, projections, smoke and shadows where it will meet the visual inspiration behind the new album of SKY H1.
We are Le Motel & Bruce Wijn from Brussels.
Together, we’ve been working on music for films and other audiovisual projects and we decided to develop this collaboration further.
That’s how we ended up with a 7 tracks EP.
We’ve been creating contemplative soundscapes which turned into songs using analog tools such as guitar, pedals effect, synths, tape recorders and field recording.
This project has been inspired by cinematographic fragments, the deep sea and last century’s explorations.
We are presenting a new performative configuration with live music & live visuals.
Brussels' dwelling producer, multi-instrumentalist, sound-sculptor and dj Maoupa Mazzocchetti has spent the past few years honing his own brand of surrealistic deranged, industrial leaning electronics. Seemingly drawing influence from early concrète, tape scene and Birmingham school techno. His productions have found favour among labels such as Mannequin, PRR! PRR!, Knekelhuis,Éditions Gravats, Dark Entries….
Whether working alone or working collaboratively, his sonic and avant-garde vision is one which constantly straddles the line between wild experimentation and rythmic compatibility.
More recently his productions under his duo Clara! y Maoupa released on Les Disques De La Bretagne have seen him exploring a whole new angle of production's style. The instrumental translated that oddball experimental's mentality towards a delectable new take on Caribbean futurism, Reggaeton, Dub and gears it all towards the dancefloor. His countless high-profile collaborations have seen him working with Beau Wanzer (De-Bons-en-Pierre),Clara! (Clara! y Maoupa), Dj David Gobelin & Dj Cloarec (An Ultimate Dj), Air Liquid, Eindkrak, Nick Klein, celist Leila Bordreuil, Mika Oki and appearances all around Europe at Unsound, Intonal, Cafe Oto, Rewire,Nuits Sonores, Boiler Room and Berghain to mention only a few.
At the Culte-evening he’ll present a AV-show with Paris based 3D video artist Laurent Allard aka Hospice 1er.
