Biggie Smalls aka The Notorious B.I.G. has risen from his ashes. In our very own Sint-Niklaas, no less. Though his name might suggest otherwise, Sylvestre Salumu or Woodie Smalls sees it big and, with knockout debut ‘Soft Parade’ (out since 15/09 via Sony Music), that is no less than entirely justified. Those who appreciate Tyler The Creator, Big Sean, Joey Bada$$ or Jay Z with a whiff of Pharrell Williams… will salivate with Smalls. With his impressive flow and smoothly produced beats, he attains unprecedented heights in Belgium. Quite simply: Belgium’s best boom bap, with international allure!

Our Northern neighbours also enjoy Woods. He adorns the line-up of Groningen’s showcase festival Eurosonic ‘16 and shines on the ‘Encore Freshmen’ EP. The latter was launched for the famous ‘Encore Freshmen’ competition, organized by Amsterdam’s urban music concert organization Encore. Here in Belgium, he has gotten hold of a Red Bull Elektropedia Awards nomination for ‘Artist Of The Year’ and ‘Best Song’ (for ‘Champion Sound’)!
